Inner Dialogue – Embarrassment
I am embarrassed
Why are you embarrassed?
Well, I don’t know, I’ve pursued professions that others would generally say are ridiculous. I wanted to be a ballet dancer. It’s easier for people to roll their eyes and say, “How immature is that pursuit.” But I pursued it, I wanted it and never stopped to care if others cared. I got good at it, really good, and no one had the right to roll their eyes at me. My pursuit was valid.
So why are you embarrassed now?
If I pursue what I want now, I can’t go back. People won’t take me seriously if I switch and go back…wouldn’t they?
Why go back? Why make that a possibility? If going into what you want will make you happy then why go back at all?
I could be happy doing what I like whether I fail or succeed. But I do want to succeed, I do want to build value, and I do want to build wealth.
So you should just go for it, live with no regrets. People usually regret what they didn’t do and what they never tried. As long as you don’t do anything evil, you cannot regret what you do.
What if I get embarrassed again?
Just ask why and then laugh embarrassment into oblivion. Go do what you want.
